If you could better your health without medications, would you do it? It’s been said: “If all the benefits of exercise could be placed in a single pill, it would be the most widely prescribed medication in the world.” Scientific evidence continues to mount supporting the numerous medicinal benefits of exercise.
Exercise is one of the most important lifestyle choices for improving your health. It helps prevent, treat , and sometimes even cure diseases, notably diseases that are linked to lifestyle. Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, heart disease, stroke, metabolic syndrome, osteoporosis, obesity, depression, and some types of cancer are some of the lifestyle diseases that respond well to the positive effects of exercise. A sedentary lifestyle can lay the framework for developing lifestyle diseases.
Exercise certainly is not the cure-all, but it can be the building block for other lifestyle changes. I view exercise as a catalyst for change, it’s the spark plug that ignites the changes towards a healthier lifestyle. During my twenty + years as a fitness professional, I have helped and supported my clients in making their changes toward a healthier lifestyle, the changes they want to make and are willing to make. It’s not about perfection (because that’s not reality), but it’s about being engaged and making the choices for better health.
Exercise will make you move better, feel better , and perform better…..and healthier!
