I believe exercise and being active are essential to good health and well-being. It goes beyond being able to run longer or faster, jumping higher, and being stronger, exercise positively influences our bodies and brains in many different ways. In a nutshell, we function better when we exercise on a regular basis and we also lower our risks for some diseases and premature death.
I believe exercise can be difficult but with professional guidance and with small consistent changes it becomes easier over time. Making exercise a part of your lifestyle is a journey not a destination. The “rewards” of better health and well-being make the journey worthwhile.
Our mindset, how we think about and the associations we make with exercise greatly impact our long-term success. Turning a negative mindset (exercise takes too much time, energy, willpower, etc.) into a positive outlook (exercise gives me better health, improves my mood, increases my energy level, and adds positively to my life) is essential to make the change to an active lifestyle. Positive thoughts guide positive actions and behaviors.
I don’t believe exercise is a cure-all but the numerous benefits for our health and well-being are certainly undeniable. I believe virtually anyone and everyone (yes, there are some exceptions) can and will benefit from exercise as long as any and all limitations are considered.
I believe most people can experience long-term success with the guidance and support of a caring and knowledgeable fitness professional.
Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live. – Jim Rohn
